We’re Wired to Please

Wire transfers are a convenient and reliable way to transfer funds to or from your Meridia account to another financial institution. Send money to your college student, a loved one overseas, close escrow on a home purchase or any other important reason.

Benefits

  • Securely transfer funds to a domestic or international financial institution
  • Receive money directly into your Meridia account
  • Send or receive same-day domestic wire transfers; see deadlines
  • Less expensive than other wire services

How to Wire Money

Before You Wire

Although wire transfers are fast and convenient, they’re also irreversible. Once the receiving party receives the money, you cannot cancel the transaction. Read wiring safety tips from the Federal Trade Commission*.

We strongly encourage you to evaluate the purpose of a wire transfer, as requests for wire transfers are commonly used in scams. If you are unsure about the validity of a request to send money, or have questions about sending or receiving wires, please call us at 716-648-4411 (or toll free at 866-951-8300), or visit your nearest branch.

Outgoing Wires

Our outgoing wire service is an excellent way to get funds to a domestic or international financial institution. Here are some important guidelines:

  • Members can initiate wires in person or by fax. Signatures must be notarized on all transfer requests sent by fax.
  • We must receive complete wiring instructions, which can be obtained from the receiving institution. Please note, complete wiring instructions include the full street address of all beneficiaries/creditors and financial institutions/creditor agents.
  • Many financial institutions/creditor agents have routing numbers specifically for wire transfers, so always verify wiring instructions with the receiving institution before proceeding.
  • There are deadlines for wire transfers to be initiated. Deadlines are as follows:
    • Domestic Transfers: If domestic wire transfers are initiated by 1:00 pm ET, the transfer will be processed by Meridia the same day. Receiving institutions generally post to the receiving account within 24 hours, depending on their internal policy.
    • International Transfers: International transfers will be initiated by Meridia the same business day if received prior to 11:30 am ET. Due to strict international regulations, the funds may take up to two weeks to be posted by the receiving financial institution.
